Friendship, Examined

I’ve been thinking a lot about friendship lately—what it means, how it evolves, and why some connections endure while others fade into pleasant memories.

There’s something uniquely complex about adult friendship that no one really prepares you for. When you’re young, friendship feels automatic, effortless. But somewhere along the way, friendship becomes intentional. It requires effort, maintenance, and a kind of emotional labor that we rarely acknowledge.

In this examination of modern friendship, I explore the geography of growing apart, the myth of constant contact through social media, the different types of friends we need, and the courage required to let some relationships go.
